Planning your NC Mountain wedding is such an exciting time in your relationship. If money is not an option then this post is not for you. But…If you’re on a budget it’s important to figure out where to spend and where to cut corners ASAP.
.) First off, figure out how much you are planning to spend overall. A range is fine if you don’t have a specific dollar amount. If family is helping out with some of the expenses that’s wonderful. Just make sure that you have a conversation with them before you start booking your venue and vendors so that you are all on the same page and everyone knows what to expect.
.) Figure out what’s most important to you right away whether it’s a great band or amazing food or an expensive photographer or your dress. Rate your wish list on a 1-10 scale. Don’t forget to ask the groom to weigh in. My advice is to get him involved let him pick one thing he would really like to spend money on as well. **If you’re still coming up really short on your budget then cut the guest list. That’s the easiest way to save money and still have everything that you want.
.) Friends and family wanting to help you out with their skills and creativity can be a big help and may save a lot of money. Just make sure that they share your vision, are flexible and know exactly what is expected of them during the planning process and on the day of the wedding.
.) Pick something that you could cut out completely if you are way over budget and make sure you can get out of the contract.
.) Start at the top of your priority list and Book vendors in order of importance.
.) Enjoy the process and when you feel yourself starting to get overwhelmed, just take a step back, take a breath of the cool mountain air and think about what’s most important. You and your fiancée beginning your new life together!
