Laura and Hill’s wedding in June of 2022 was filled with special connections, intentional details, and family moments that will last a lifetime.
The Whole Shebang was honored to be a part of their celebrations as we previously coordinated Laura’s sister, Taylor’s wedding at Gideon Ridge Inn in 2018 [featured on the blog at the link here] and fell in love with their family then. We love when we get to work with our past couples’ families again!
Rehearsal Dinner:
Laura and Hill held their rehearsal dinner at Gideon Ridge Inn. Breathtaking attire was on display starting with Laura’s floral jumpsuit which paired perfectly with Hill’s navy jacket.
As dinner approached, family and friends gathered around long tables adorned with hues of cream, white, and green and surrounded by picturesque views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the windows and glass doors that were kept open to invite the feelings of the season into the space. Floral design created by Golden Thistle Design showcased the essence of the couple and their vision for their wedding celebration. Head Chef Hunter Womble crafted a boutique curated seasonal menu for their special event and it was truly exquisite.
Glasses clinked as special words were shared and the couple celebrated the start of their wedding weekend with their loved ones. It was the perfect start to their wedding weekend at a place that holds so many special family ties.
After the rehearsal dinner, guests attended a welcome party to launch of their weekend held at the American Legion in Blowing Rock.
Wedding Day:
With their family ties to the Gideon Ridge Inn, it only felt natural for Laura and Hill to hold their ceremony on the grounds of this heirloom location that is filled with so many memories. Their ceremony site included a wrought iron arbor with greenery, white, cream, peach, and blue blooms. Accents of blue in florals down the aisle provided the perfect pop of color and accent to the lush vignette that was created along the back of the ceremony chairs. These design elements tied flawlessly to the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the ceremony space.
Guests were welcomed to the ceremony celebration with a glass of champagne and the most beautiful weather for a summer wedding in the High Country. Dean’s Duets swooned guests with a phenomenal string quartet. Laura was escorted down the aisle by her father to the song “I Can’t Help Falling In Love with You” and the love was certainly felt by all guests as she made her breathtaking entrance. While Laura chose not to have a formal wedding party, she had a “blue crew” who were decked out in multiple shades of blue as her “something blue”. Hill’s brother Jack officiated their ceremony. Fun fact about Hill, he is a twin! His twin Ladd married Nini in the High Country in 2022 as well.
One tradition that Laura and Hill included in their celebration was burying the bourbon (and then digging it back up on their wedding day!) Burying the bourbon is a tradition many couples take part in that involves burying a bottle of bourbon upside down at the ceremony site one month out from your ceremony. It is supposed to keep the rain away and as you can see from the photos, the tradition worked!
After the ceremony, guests traveled to the reception space at Blowing Rock Country Club and were able to enjoy cocktail hour with signature drinks featuring their pup Sally. Details of the reception space included chargers with glass and silver accents, navy napkins, custom paper goods with their initials, and a sprig of rosemary. The floral design including cream, green, and hints of blue carried over from the ceremony to the reception space.
Laura and Hill and their guests enjoyed a night filled with dancing, drinks, and music from the Perfect 10 Band. At the end of the night, Laura and Hill exited through a tunnel of sparklers and hopped into their getaway car a classic excalibur.
Their weekend came to a close as they celebrated with a farewell brunch held at Hellbender Bed and Beverage in Blowing Rock, NC.
